Tim Grows 24 different species of Yucca in his garden, most of the plants are being tested for their first winter.

18 of this species were sown May 2000, on fig. 1 you can see some of all the seedlings at an age of 6 months.
It might be useful to know that Tim's Yucca seedlings, are a lot bigger than 6 months seedlings would be here in Northern Denmark, and it must be the higher day temperatures that makes the difference.

Yucca flaccida 'Tennessee. Big Bloomer' (formerly known as Yucca recurvifolia 'Tenn.') a very beautiful Yellow-lime-green from from Tennessee, now growing in Tim' Yucca garden in Massachusetts. It gets a huge inflorescence.

Average of -19°C (-2°F) as the yearly minimum temperature (last 30 year average)
Average No. of days per year -12°C (10°F) or lower = 12 days
Average No. of high temperatures which did not exceed 0°C (32°F) = 25 per year
Yearly average of 1140 mm (45 inches) precipitation, this is equally distributed throughout the year. Around 90 mm of the precipitation is received as snow, (typical 90 cm (46 inches) snow cover each year).
Average first freeze = Oct. 15
Average last freeze = April 25

Tim Behan is also collecting pollen for other Yucca-hybrid-breeders around the world, and I have been able to make some very interesting hybrids with pollen from his plants.
