This is one of the first successful pollinations, that were made in
my garden in the summer of 2003.
The seed parent were the welknown variegatedYucca
'Bright
Edge' which is a very good bloomer, and the pollen
parent a Yucca glauca, which I
did get from the former nurseryman P. C. O. Nørgaard, from the Isle
of Mors, in Denmark, it had flowered many times in P.C.O.'s unheated greenhouse.

Of this cross did I get 8 seed pods, which were given an individual number: 1805, 1806, 1807, 1808, 1809, 1810, 1811 and 1812.
Short description of this new hybrid:
Plant: Acaulescent and spreading by short stolons (rhizomes).
Leaves: stiff, erect and spreading, 57 - 65 cm long., up to
20 mm wide, glaucous, with many curling rather thick fibers at the margin
of the leaves, which is up to 12 - 40 cm in length.
Inflorescence: glabrous, 117 cm high, mostly racemose but with
a few short branches held in an upright position 10-15 cm long
Scape: 83 cm starting from between the leaves.
Flowers: pendulous (bell shaped), greenish white, to 6 cm long.
Outer
tepals reddish in color 25 mm wide and 55 mm long. Inner tepals
greenish white 42 mm wide and 60 mm long. Ovarium greenish white
30 mm long and 10 mm in circumfence. Stigma lobe green, 10 mm long.
Taste
of the flowers somewhat bitter. Scent not very strong but pleasant.
Fruit: 70-90 mm long, 27-37 mm thick, very like those of Yucca
glauca.
The hybrid is not yet propageted, but will be so in the future, probably in tissue culture.
