Cactus mall's server will be replaced today and it may result in up to two hours downtime of www.bennyskaktus.dk. The new server has 6X the disk space, 8X the processor capacity, 4X the RAM and 2X the transfer allowance of the current server, so should serve us for some time into the future.

Deceased
At noon on September 30th. 2003, the in Denmark well known nursery owner P. C. O. Nørgaard died after a long period with health problems. P. C. O. Nørgaard was 86 years old when he died and did until his death still run his nursery in Sundby on the Danish isle Mors. P. C. O. Nørgaard did not have any close family, so he did leave a will, in which he has written whom shall inherit the plants and his estate. The plants will be divided between different people and the home and all within it is inherited by the Morsø Museum.
P. C. O. Nørgaard was a well known collector of many interesting plants and his special interest were: Iris, Hemerocalis, Yucca, Agapanthus, Sempervivum and Jovibarba, Papaver, Primula auricula + Primula pubescens + hybrids and forms of such, Mandragora officinarum, Dahlia, Paeonia and any rare and different looking plants. P. C. O. Nørgaard will be missed by those who knew him and Denmark has lost a great nursery, fortunately will his plants grow in the new homes of those who has inherited them. I was one of the people who did inherit some of his large collections of plants, I have been left almost 30 different forms of Yucca and around 300 different forms of Sempervivum and Jovibarba, plus many other interesting plants. When they have been propagated, I will be able to some distribute plants in the spirit of P. C. O. Nørgaard. Long live his memory.

My Gerrardanthus marcorhizus aff. lobatus (it's the silver leafed form) is blooming it is as usually a male plant! If you have a female for sale please let me know, I would love to buy one! also check out my "wanted" list, you might have other plants that I'm currently looking for.

On July 23rd. and July 24th. did I have a visit of a journalist and a Cameraman from the Danish TV-station DR2 They were making a TV-serie about "ordinary Danes" (that's a person like me!) with a special hobby, and the theme is what do those hobby folks use their computer to in relation to their hobby. The program I will be in will be broadcasted on October 20th. I'm looking forward to see how much they have used of the 5 hours tape they did film when they were visiting me ? So if you wish to see the person behind www.bennyskaktus.dk, this is when you get your chance!

News:
For the first time have I Yuccas with fruits in my garden. It started when my friend Pia Larsen asked me why I haven't tried pollinating my Yuccas, I told her that I had tried it several times, and only one time did one plant start a seed pod, but the pod did not mature before the frost in the fall. The first flower of Yucca arkansana were pollinated on July 14th. with pollen from a Yucca filamentosa?, and visa versa, now there are one fruit on each plant. Since have we been able to cross pollinate several other species and forms with each other. When I have gathered more information and have photos ready for it will I edit the page about Yucca pollination, with information about the process.

Spring has arrived to Denmark! So I did water the plants in the unheated greenhouse for the first time this year. 10 Pediocactus had flower buds when I watered in the morning, and in the afternoon 15 plants had buds, they sure work fast!!
