Distribution:
Extending from type location northwest along the southern and western slopes of the Tehachapi Mountains to at least Monolith, California.

Short description of the species:
Like Yucca brevifolia ssp. brevifolia, and Yucca brevifolia var. jaegeriana but this form forms extremely large clumps of many shoots and rosettes, a single clump can cover an area of 800 cm in diameter, with maybe 30 or 40 trunk-like stems. In the majority of plants, the older stems are in the middle of such croup of stems, and re from 300 to 500 cm tall. Such stems has from 4 to 12 short branches and they frequently recline on adjacent stems, as if too weak to stand themselves.

Seeds of #1348 Yucca brevifolia ssp. herbertii, California, Cajon pass, 1200 m. fh 1179.76, sown 2000, but did not germinate that year, probably as they weren't completely mature! I will try to sow them again in 2001!
